THE STORY BEHIND THE SMALL CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOME PLAN DESIGN

We originally designed this small craftsman style house plan for an empty nester couple who were downsizing and relocating from a very cold northern climate. Their priority was a large great room for family gatherings (both human and canine). Easy access to the back deck and screened porch, as well as a front facing kitchen window and front covered porch were very important for their lifestyle. Since they both were bikers, the extra space in the garage was a must. The other critical design element was the use of the "Feng Shui" principle in which the front door does not open directly to the great room and through to the back of the house. They felt that the beauty of the room and views should be their private sanctuary and not let the energy fly out the front door.
